Hi to all our friends around the world,
Last Wednesday saw 14 of us drive down to Beverly Place for a game of Stableford, actually just 12 of us in the competition as the other two were playing for a handicap. BTW re the latter we congratulate Roger Ricquier for completing his 5 games this week and getting his BSGC handicap and eligibility for playing in competitions.
Out of the 12 we had 5 from the A-Group and 7 from the B-Group, the weather was a bit humid at first but got better as the early morning dew dried out and both the “Greens” & “Fairways” were, as usual, in a “Good” condition.
A note about the “early birds”, we have no problem with some flights going out very early but could we ask you to move the pace along and if a faster flight (of our players) is behind you then let them through. Incidentally it is very apparent that the Koreans are back in numbers, and for sure this will cause us a problem around 9:00am in the future. As an example your scribe and his flight hit off Hole #10 to avoid the BSGC backlog on Hole #1, and we had a great empty golf course in front of us the whole way until we came back to Hole #1 for our back nine. There we found about 12 carts of Koreans waiting to tee off. Our caddys had a word with the Starter Marshall and he let us through citing to the angry Koreans that we were a pre-booked tournament and had priority. I am not sure we will get that treatment every week. So probably we should all try and get our F9 (from Hole #1) out of the way before the rampaging hordes turn up at 9:00am, hence the need to move the pace along. We might even consider all starting a bit earlier….comments please.
The presentation bar this week was “Baby Dolls” where the beer and pool followed its usual course with the last of us leaving about 7:00pm!
