Club Championship

The Club Championship will be determined by your best 4 rounds played on Monthly Medal Days throughout the year. The handicap used will be the handicap allocated to you at that time on that day. To be eligible you must have an established handicap at the beginning of the year and you must play a minimum of 12 games throughout the year and must include 4 monthly medal games.

Count Back

In the event of scores being leveled a countback of the last 9 holes and then the last 6 and last 3 if still level hole by hole from 18th backwards, in stroke events handicaps will be used to determine the winner.

Ambrose Scramble

This event can be played as a Two-Ball, Three-Ball, or Four-Ball event, although the Four-Ball event is the most popular.

The team selects a captain (preferably the lowest marker) who is responsible for the method of play and the marking of the scorecard. The captain also determines the order of play which is then maintained throughout the event. All players hit off the tee and the captain then decides which ball is in the best position. The other team members then drop their ball within a club length of the selected ball, no nearer the hole. They hit the next stroke from this position, no matter where their previous stroke finished. The captain makes a similar selection after the next shot and play continues in this way.

If the selected ball is in the rough or in a hazard, the other balls must be dropped in the rough or hazard.
On the putting surface, all balls must be putted from within 15cm of the spot where the selected ball lies. Each player must putt it out, except when it is not possible for a player to better the existing score.

Texas scramble

In Texas Scramble an extra condition will be added :
Every player has to take a minimum number of drives depending on the number of players and whether or not including the par 3’s.

Ambrose is scored as a stroke event and handicapping is as follows:-

Two Ball Event       –      1/4 of aggregate stroke handicap
Three Ball Event     –      1/6 of aggregate stroke handicap
Four Ball Event      –       1/8 of aggregate stroke handicap

Each player must have his or her handicap recorded on the card. After the event, the card is counter-signed by another member of the team.

Total gross and nett scores are shown on the card and the team with the lowest score is the winner.

LONE RANGER

Lone Ranger is a team game (3 or 4 players) and is a variation of individual Stableford. The 4-player version works as follows: The team captain determines the driving sequence for the team deciding who is player 1, 2, 3, and 4……..this must be done before play starts.

For the 1st hole, the player designated player #1 becomes the Lone Ranger for that hole, for Hole #2 player 2 is the Lone Ranger, for Hole #3 player 3 is the Lone Ranger and for Hole #4 player 4 is the Lone Ranger. The order of teeing off is not important just remembering who is the Lone Ranger, some teams like the Lone Ranger to tee off first.

From hole #5 onwards the sequence is repeated, with players teeing off in strict sequence. The net result is:
Player 1 plays holes 1, 5, 9, 13 & 17 as “Lone Ranger”
Player 2 plays holes 2, 6, 10, 14 & 18 as “Lone Ranger”
Player 3 plays holes 3, 7, 11 & 15 as “Lone Ranger”
Player 4 plays holes 4, 8, 12, & 16 “Lone Ranger”

It can be seen that players 1 & 2 get an extra drive which could be used tactically in allocating the driving sequence in addition the sequence could be allocated such that the weakest player misses the hardest hole as Lone Ranger.

Scoring: All four players calculate their individual Stableford Points as normal using their current handicap. The team score per hole is the total points score of the Lone Ranger + next best of the 3 players

Note: This is not to be confused with Irish Lone Ranger where the scores are multiplied and a Lone Ranger score of zero is zero for the team
