Local Rules Beverly

Update February 2024

Needless to say, behave as a gentleman on the golf course towards your fellow players, the caddies and the Beverly people. Improper behavior will and cannot be tolerated by the committee.

Keep the pace during play, keep the connection with the group in front of you, and remember the existing golf etiquette ruling; when you are playing against an open hole, let the group behind you through or speed up your play.

GUR
When your ball is IN (not behind) one of the GUR designated areas anywhere on the course, the committee declares that GUR is an NPZ (No Play Zone). Drop your ball at the nearest point of relief, not closer to the Hole. No penalty.

When your ball goes OB, you’re allowed to choose between hitting a new ball counting that as a new shot from the same place with 1 shot penalty, OR dropping a ball on the edge of the fairway rectangular to where you assume, your ball went OB counting 2 penalty shots extra.

Local Rule: Hole No. 14 Par 5.
If you hit a ball in the water on Hole No. 14 Par 5, you must either replay the shot from the tee or you’re allowed to drop a ball (not tee up) on the RED tee box, adding one penalty stroke in both cases.

When your ball after a shot to the green, ends up in the water behind the green, you must drop a ball left or right of the bunker on the grass, not closer to the Hole. Don’t forget to add a penalty stroke.

Local Rule: Hole No. 15 Par 3.
If you hit your ball in the water, you either replay the shot from the tee or go to the designated drop zone. This includes if you hit it long left and your ball lands in between the bunkers and it rolls through the back bunker on the left and into the water, you must go to the drop zone. If you hit it from the drop zone across the green and through the bunker into water your ball must be replayed from the drop zone again. As always add a penalty stroke.

Silver or White tees.
Any player with a Handicap of 13 or over, is allowed to play from the white tees. In case your Handicap drops under 13, you have to play from the Silver Tee Boxes.

No Gimmes anytime, always put the ball in. If your ball is leaning to the flagstick, the ball is considered to be holed out.

A quadruple bogey is the maximum score you can score on a hole, when you reach that score pick, your ball up and put that score and 2 putts on the scorecard. This is especially useful when playing Medal. When playing Stableford, pick up the ball if you cannot score anymore.

Mulligan: The first shot of the day is free but if you take the Mulligan, you have to use it.

You may have a Preferred Lie option of one club length no closer to the hole and within the specific area, where your ball lies.

No groups of more than 4 players are allowed unless at the end of the pack. Split up, making up 2 groups of 2 and 3 players when you like to tee off early.

You are only allowed 3 minutes to look for a lost ball and when it is deemed your shot and after you arrive at your ball, you have 40 seconds ( normally less ) to play your shot if you fail to do this, the first offense is a warning, second offense is a 1 shot penalty and third offense is a 2 shot penalty.
Proceed to the next tee box ASAP to write down the scores.
Tip! If you like to have a social chat with your mate, get out of the cart and walk together through the course. F*&%ing healthy as well.

Ready Golf – anywhere on the course whenever it’s safe to do so!

Play will be as per the existing schedule with new Handicaps provided before the date of play.
